Plains of Punjab, the Dhauladhar, the Pir Panjal, the Great Himalayan and Zanskar ranges are the five mountain ranges which cut Himachal Pradesh across the Shivalik. The rivers flowing in the Himachal Pradesh like Yamuna, Chandrabhaga, Sutlej, Ravi, Beas and other rivulets have given not only vegetation and greenness to its soil but also have enriched its tradition and folk customs besides providing gigantic prospective for generating hydro-electricity.
In the spring season the air is filled with the fragrant aroma of fruit plants. The harsh and desolate scenery in Lahaul and Spiti displays beauty in bareness. People of Himachal Pradesh are very simple, innocent, honest and hard working. World famous fairs and festivals are also celebrated in Himachal Pradesh. Dussehra at Kullu, Lavi at Rampur, Phulaich at Kinnaur and Shivratri at Mandi are the most famous festivals of Himachal Pradesh.
